Dietitian- Rachel Jeffery (APD/AN)

Rachel Jeffery, a dietitian with over 25 years’ experience believes that ‘everything in moderation’ is the key to a healthy life and diet. The secret is enjoyment not avoidance. Rachel believes healthy food is essential to reduce the risk of dietary related lifestyle diseases, while an occasional treat can be enjoyed without guilt. It is this no-nonsense attitude and balanced view that is making Rachel a popular media commentator on all things diet and nutrition. With expertise in adult lifestyle diseases, diabetes, sports and paediatrics, Rachel is able to offer a broad base of knowledge in the field of nutrition.

Accredited Practising Dietitians (APDs) and Accredited Nutritionists (ANs) have become a valuable resource for media commentary over the past 15 years. APDs and ANs have become well known faces on our television screens and in the media, assisting us with deciphering the best products in the supermarket, choosing  everyday foods from those occasional treats, and wading through the complex maze of fad diets versus healthy eating guides.

Rachel has studied Nutrition and Dietetics since 1990, when she first completed her degree in Science at Deakin University in Melbourne and Master’s at Flinders University, South Australia. She is an Accredited Practising Dietitian and Accredited Nutritionist, registered with the Dietitians Association of Australia.

Rachel has since completed further specialised training in Paediatric Nutrition, Diabetes Education, Sports Nutrition and is accredited in anthropometrics and skinfold assessments. Following university Rachel worked in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, before she  returned to Australia to take up the post of Senior Dietitian at Alfred Health specialising in trauma, oncology and burns nutrition; while being a student lecturer, supervisor and mentor for new graduate dietitians.

Rachel now has a private practice working at Latrobe Health Centre, servicing clients in the Greater Geelong region. She is passionate about health and nutrition, and loves sharing her knowledge and expertise with people via 1:1 consultations and through a number of community and media engagements.Rachel presented a Nutrition segment on a Channel Seven series for IGA called Food4Life, in early March 2007, and was the Ambassador for IGA’s Food4Life Program for three years. She began her foray into the media with the first of 6 television advertisements filmed for the Kraft Kitchens campaign. Rachel’s bubbly personality and a string of accreditations in the field of Nutrition & Dietetics, has seen her as a new breed of Diet expert, spurred on by the desire to educate the community about healthy diet and lifestyle, making nutrition fun and pleasurable for everyone
