News and Events

  • August 2017: Dr Priyanthi Perera has received her Fellowship from the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. The Fellowship is a specialty degree in General Practice.
  • August 2017: Dr Jason Lee has recently completed his six month's placement with us. We wish him all the best.
  • July 2017: Dr Gurgius has recently completed his training to become an accrediated GP for provision of focussed psychological strategies under the Better Outcomes in Mental Health care initiative. This means he can provide psychological services to his patients in need who cannot see a psychologist for any reason.
  • June 2017: We have changed the Online appointment company, although Myhealth1st will provide via our website the same secure, quick and convenient service.

  • April 2017: 2017 Flu vaccine is now available. Its free for eligible patients.

  • April 2017: We have a fee of $25 for transfer of medical records, in order to cover the cost involved. 

  • April 2017: Dr Wimanshi Gamage will be starting from the 3rd of April. 

  • March 2017: We have reached our 2nd Year anniversary on the 2nd of March!

    Note:This means that all patients that have had 1 or 2 Failure to attends (FTA) against their name will be cleared from their record.

  • January 2017: Dr Sharmi had recently completed her Diploma in Child Health from the University of Sydney.
  • January 2017: We have a New Clinical Psychologist (Dr Barbara Hindson) starting with us on the 8th of February.  
  • January 2017: The Hearing Clinic is returning on the 17/03/2017. They provide FREE hearing tests for all patients aged 21 years and above. 
  • November 2016: Dr Priyanthi Perera had recently completed a Certificate in Primary Care Dermatology. 
  • November 2016:Dr Gurgius has recently been appointed as an Australian Medical Council Examiner.The Australian Medical Council (AMC) is an independent national standards body for medical education and training. The AMC’s purpose is to ensure that standards of education, training and assessment of the medical profession promote and protect the health of the Australian community.

  • November 2016:National hearing Care will be providing Free hearing checks for all patients 21 years old and over. Please book with reception, as they will be onsite on 02/12/16 (2nd of December). You do not need doctor referral.

  • October 2016:New Speed limit petition: We would like to thank our patients for their support to the practice's petition to VicRoad to lower the speed limit on Geelong road (shelford-bannockburn rd). This change will lower the risk to our patients and the community.

  • July 2016:Dr Gurgius obtained from the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, the fellowship in Advanced Rural General Practice, in recognition of his advanced rural general practice skills.

  • Onsite Psychology services will be starting from 1st of August.

  • Onsite Ultra-sound Services will be starting from 4th of August.

  • We are proud to announce that we are the first and currently the only practice which is accrediated to provide Yellow fever vaccination in the Golden plains shire! To receive your Yellow fever vaccine, please talk to your GP.

  • Podiatrist (Grace Byrnes) started with us on the 18th of July.

  • A mobile bone density scan clinic will be coming to our centre on Tuesday the 9th of August  to provide a free scan to all eligible patients in the Shire.

    You will need a referral from your GP to access this service.

  • We are proud to be awarded as one of the top 100 medical centres across Australia, as according to patient's choice. 

    Over 180,000 patients across 1700 medical centres Australia-wide completed the post-appointment survey via HealthEngine in 2015. We like to thank our patients for their appreciation of the high quality service and clinical care we provide.

  • We have now an on-site Holter monitor (24 hour ECG Machine ) available. Dorevitch Pathology accepts referral from any doctor.

  • We are now an accredited Q-fever Immunisation Centre! To receive your Q-fever vaccination, please talk to your GP.

  • We have reached our 1st Year anniversary on the 2nd of March!

  • Dr Mina Gurgius has recently attained the National Certificate in Reproductive and Sexual Health.
